Augie, the newest addition to the Kinkead household

Hi, my name is Augie. Right now I am only twelve weeks old, but already am well known by mom, dad and my fellow fur kids in the household. My dad is Jared, who you probably already saw on our website. My mom is Sassy, who is owned by my original dad and mom, Dave and Sharon Phillips.

I was named Augie for two reasons: Daddy Human Rich thought it'd be fun to have an Augie-doggie and Doggy Daddy in the house. If you don't remember this cartoon from your childhood, take a look at this youtube to see what you missed!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sfi6tqSvQvY

Another reason to name the pup Augie is that mom likes to name pups after stars or tv characters. I am named after a person on the Covert Affairs tv show. The actor who plays Augie on the show also starred in an earlier series, Jake 2.0. Well, I have also been called Jared 2.0.

So far mom and dad think I am a pretty good puppy. I am learning to do my business outside quite quickly, am learning to sit (which is hard to do when mom has a cookie in her hand--I'd rather jump all over her to win the treat). Unlike Doggy Daddy (aka Jared) I settle early into my cage at night and quietly sleep the night away. I have heard them discuss how Daddy litterly howled for four months straight when he was new to their home.

Overall, Doggy Daddy Jared is pretty tolerant of me. I think he thinks I am amusing although there is a limit to his amusement. This morning I was running into the dining room, saw Doggy Daddy and took a flying leap at him. Let's just say there was a HUGE ROAR a flash of white and I saw myself land on the other side of the kitchen/dining room entrance. Note to self: don't jump on Doggy Daddy from a flying leap.

This is me at three and a half weeks of age.  Mom had seen me a few times before, but my original mom said I was obstinate, so she didn't really think about choosing me. She liked Sparkle or Blue. Daddy Rich liked Blue. It wasn't looking good for me until I reached the tender age of seven weeks old.

Aunt Julie came to help "evaluate" the litter. She did a puppy temperment test and it showed I was a bit more laid back than my littermates. I also retrieved the toy perfectly both times. Mom was impressed. I also had a much superior (in my words) conformation, so Mom started considering me as her pick puppy. Daddy Rich came to visit me the next week and everyone agreed: I would be going home with them.

Here I am with my human dad, Rich, when I first arrived home at the Kinkead pack.

I am only eight weeks old here, my ears are still floppying and my world has drastically changed from living with my littermates.

Murron and Cisco aren't too sure about me. Doggy daddy Jared seems entertained by me. I guess I am too small to really bug him...he hasn't really snarled at me yet.

Augie and doggy daddy, Jared This is me and my doggy daddy, Jared. I am ten weeks old now.

I think dad likes me, but he still teaches me my manners. He lets me jump on him to a certain point, but when he gets tired of it, well, watch out!

Mom calls me the pirana puppy. I guess my teeth are a bit sharp at this age.

Augie on his pillow with his toys

Here's another photo of me at  ten weeks. My ears are actually standing up. My human dad says I look less like a sheltie now. How insulting.

I am in my own little world. A doggie pillow, plenty of toys. Welcome to Augie's world.

The toys that are most coveted are the rawhide chewies.  I have to almost wrestle them away from Murron and Cisco...and occasionally from my dad Jared. Boy, I am the one with teeth that needs chewies.
